Introducing New Oils!

My favorite New Oil—Petitgrain Neroli Co-Distillation (citrus aurantium var. amara)!

This wonderful new oil is a co-distillation of petitgrain and neroli blossoms.  Petitgrain is distilled from the leaves of the bitter orange tree and neroli is from the blossoms of the same tree.  This oil is co-distilled, meaning that the leaves and blossoms were distilled together at the same time.

The result is an oil with properties of both petitgrain and neroli:  Petitgrain, as a leaf oil, has a special affinity to the lungs and chest area.  I have used it to calm labored breathing and to open up the chest.  It is also known as an anti-depressant that is calming and grounding.  Neroli, a flower blossom, is also anti-depressant and calming (almost sedating).  I use it to calm anxiety, insomnia, palpitations and for skin care. 

As with everything else in aromatherapy, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts:  the co-distilled oil has something that neither of the two parts does—it also opens the heart chakra while firmly grounding and uplifting us.  The combined scent is less sweet than individual neroli and less bitter than straight petitgrain.  It also combines the top-middle-base notes of the two constituent scents.

Cabreuva (myroxylan spp)

The cabreuva tree is a hardwood tree native to S. America.  It is considered one of the hardest woods available.  It is distilled from the shavings, twigs and branches considered waste products of harvesting the tree for other uses. 

As a tree oil, cabreuva brings all the properties of wood oils:  affinities to the respiratory and urinary systems, skin care and natural insect repellant.  Cabreuva is a wonderful middle note;  great for harmonizing blends.  On a spiritual level, cabreuva helps us to manifest our heart’s desire and our individuality.  As a wood oil, it brings in strength and stability during difficult times and transitions.

Indian Peppermint (menthe piperita) Certified Organic

Did I really need another peppermint?  Well, for this one, I did!

This is a very clean, clearing peppermint, with just the right touch of sweetness to it.  I LOVE it!
